I Too Am Offended

Not that anyone noticed, but I have not written any Cowboy Wisdom for the last few months. Quite frankly I just needed a break.

But after all the events over the last few weeks and months it’s time to get back in the fight for the real America.

Yessir, it’s time to tighten the cinch swing my leg over the saddle and start ridin’ and writin’ again for freedom and the people that get up every day trying to make life better for themselves their kids and kinfolk.

Since I last wrote a column the world has been turned upside down. If you listen to CNN or read the New York Times or Washington Post we are at each other’s throats like never before and are on the brink of a new civil war.

This is all they seem to talk about as if they are rooting for America to collapse.

The cause of all this turmoil?

Why of course it’s President Trump who has been in office for all of seven months.

If you listen to the media you would think that everything was just dandy for the last eight years under President Obama and the Trump election gave rise to the knuckle dragging rednecks that dared put him in office.

They decry the lack of civility and coarseness in politics but turn a blind eye to the coarseness of the swill that masquerades as entertainment on television where four letter words and graphic sex and violence are now commonplace.

But the one that sticks in my craw more than anything is the epidemic of being offended.

Every day someone or some group is offended by something someone said or some symbol that causes them to curl up in the fetal position and start sucking their thumb hoping someone will make it all go away.

Well I too am offended.

I am offended by those who think by tearing down a statue they are fighting some perceived injustice and are striking a blow against racism when all they are doing is erasing the inconvenient facts of our past that can teach us lessons vital to our future.

I am offended by a national media that no longer reports the real news but creates fake news to fit their narrative and is filled with the opinions of the writers cloistered in the hermetically sealed bubbles of liberalism that are the Manhattan and Washington newsrooms and TV studios.

I am offended that cable commentators and so-called political strategists who couldn’t strategize passing gas after a dinner of Boston baked beans waste countless hours wringing their hands and rending their garments telling us of the coming racial apocalypse.

I am offended by the ruling class who lambaste President Trump and by extension his supporters in public while they trot off to the Hamptons or Aspen to make fun of the bumpkins in private.

I am offended by corporate chieftains who quit Presidential advisory commissions hoping to please the high priests of the Progressive Inquisition that aims to cleanse America of what I don’t know but will gladly extend their hand to accept the tax cuts that President Trump has promised and Congress hasn’t delivered.

I am offended by the Republican members of the House and Senate who after years of promises on Obamacare can’t muster the courage to fulfill those promises preferring to join the braying jackals of the media and Democrats hoping to draw the people’s attention away from their ineptitude.

I am offended by America’s institutions of lower learning and their leaders who cower in the face of endless demands from their students as they grovel to please them by giving in to their ridiculous demands instead of acting like adults and just saying NO!

I am also offended by the overpaid and many times under qualified professors who fill our children’s minds with dangerous dogmatic drivel that doesn’t prepare them to survive in the real world and issuing academic fatwas against anyone they don’t think fits their worldview all the while hiding behind the tenure that protects them from being fired.

I am offended by big city mayors from New York to Los Angeles and Chicago to San Francisco who seem to spend more time talking about things they have no control over instead of repairing the fiscal disasters they preside over as they watch the weakest of their citizens being murdered by the bushel and their streets becoming tent cities where the taxpayers can’t walk the streets they pay for, for fear of stepping in human excrement.

I am offended by the Hollywood celebrities know one will remember ten years from now who tell us how to live our lives but take off from the new private luxury terminal at LAX so they don’t have to rub elbows with the great unwashed whom they lecture constantly about saving the planet as they step off their Gulfstream Fives and step into chauffeur limos surrounded by bodyguards

I am offended by Maxine Waters and the Congressional Black Caucus who screams racism at the drop of a hat to stir up their constituents all the while hiding the fact that they have done nothing to help these American citizens escape the crushing poverty and corrupt education system that hasn’t changed one lick despite eight years of the first black president Barack Obama.

I am offended by pampered highly paid modern day gladiators who take a knee or sit during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner dishonoring the flag that covers the coffins of those who die in foreign lands defending freedom and our way of life so that they can protest at all.

But mostly I am offended by those who are perpetually offended.

So here is your Cowboy Wisdom for the Week.

“Either cowboy up or go sit in the truck”.

I feel sorry for those that are constantly offended because they are wasting valuable time and energy. And you can never get the time back and your energy will be drained so that you can’t do what needs to be done.

This country needs to cowboy up stop being offended at everything that in the greater scheme of things don’t amount to a pile of road apples.

Stop whining America and let’s get to work pulling on the same end of the rope so we can make this nation greater than ever before.

Let’s make our ancestors who look down upon us from their heavenly perch proud of us.

And if you can’t do that go sit in the dang truck.

But you will be sitting in that truck for quite a spell as the rest of us have work to do.
